I hope everybody’s being safe out there. We’re here today to talk a little bit about the CDS-9090.
This is an enterprise-grade appliance that is kind of a UPS, ATA, and LTE router all wrapped into one.
Right away on this enterprise-grade appliance, you’re going to notice the faceplate. We’ve got these little thumb screws. That is for a front-replaceable, 12-hour backup battery.
Flip it around to the back. Right away, you might notice that there are five Ethernet ports: four LAN and one WAN. It also has an SFP port for fiber.
We’ve got eight RJ-11s, which replicate a PSTN POTS line with a REN of five each.
You’ll notice the little SMA connectors. This device does come with rubber duck antennas that really greatly increase the reception. You’re going to get almost twice the reception you would on an iPhone with those antennas.
You can also use coaxial cable if there are some coverage challenges. Run coaxial cable to an area of the building with better reception and put an antenna there.
The Wi-Fi is going to be 2.4 and 5.0. The 5.0 supports fast multiplexing with AC. It can be an access point, a client, and/or both, enhancing and extending your network.
It is dual-SIM, so we support multiple carriers. It is AT&T certified, as well as T-Mobile and Verizon.
Okay, I’ve told you a lot about the hardware, but what’s really important about this device is that it has POTS IN A BOX® technology in it. The firmware and libraries in this device work with our cloud infrastructure to honor and guarantee machine-to-machine communication.
Think about fax or modem data on something like a Bell 202 or U.S. Robotics-type modem, often used for building controls. Think HVAC systems or lighting controls, as well as point-of-sale systems and ATMs.
Then there are also alarm protocols for fire and burglar alarms. Think of Ademco Contact ID, 4+2, and SIA.
With the technology in this box, you’re able to migrate that legacy equipment off the PSTN and onto an IP infrastructure—the go-forward technology for the future of networking.
