Internet Resilience
Internet resilience is a site's ability to stay connected through the failure of its primary circuit or its utility power, using an independent secondary path and backup power.
Why this matters
Wired circuits fail for reasons entirely outside a tenant's control — construction cutting a conduit, a carrier fault, weather. When connectivity carries payments, monitoring, or alarm reporting, an outage is not just an inconvenience, and a backup that shares infrastructure with the primary is not real redundancy.
Where things stand
Cellular is genuinely independent physical infrastructure, which is what makes it effective as a secondary path. The same appliance can often provide both the backup data path and the analog line replacement, consolidating what used to be two devices and two failure domains.

What makes redundancy real
Independence. Two circuits that enter the building through the same conduit, or hand off to the same upstream provider, will fail together often enough that the second one cannot be relied on. Cellular uses separate physical infrastructure end to end, which is the property that matters.
Two different failures
Circuit loss is addressed by a secondary path — cellular failover or fixed wireless. Power loss is addressed by battery backup. A site exposed to both needs both, and they are frequently confused for one another during planning.
Consolidation
Several appliances provide analog line replacement and a backup data path from the same cellular connection and the same battery. Where a site needs both, that is one device to power, monitor, and maintain instead of two — and one fewer thing to discover has failed.
