## Why this matters

Wired circuits fail for reasons entirely outside a tenant's control — construction cutting a conduit, a carrier fault, weather. When connectivity carries payments, monitoring, or alarm reporting, an outage is not just an inconvenience, and a backup that shares infrastructure with the primary is not real redundancy.

## Where things stand

Cellular is genuinely independent physical infrastructure, which is what makes it effective as a secondary path. The same appliance can often provide both the backup data path and the analog line replacement, consolidating what used to be two devices and two failure domains.
