A tour of the DataRemote lab and an overview of how POTS IN A BOX® works — from the FXS ports analog devices plug into, to the managed network.

Hello, Carter Dewey, DataRemote, filming from our headquarters here in Miami.

A lot of our employees are working from home, and I hope you and yours are being safe during this time.

We wanted to talk a little bit about our POTS IN A BOX® CDS series of equipment. I have here with me the CDS-9010 and also the CDS-9090.

Both of these are enterprise-grade LTE routers. Both come with Wi-Fi—Wi-Fi 2.4, 5.0. They can be an access point and/or a client and are both extending your network. Additionally, they are multi-carrier.

This particular unit is AT&T certified. It’s Network Ready and also their highest-level certification, Network Optimized.

Both these units do come with the RJ-11s at the back. The CDS-9010 has two RJ-11s. The CDS-9090, you’re going to see, has eight RJ-11s. The 9090 comes with five ports: four LANs, one WAN. The 9010—it’s three ports: two LANs, one WAN.

The major differentiator in our product, if you take away the backup battery, the multi-carrier cellular, and you just look at this as an ATA, right? There are other ATAs in the market, mostly for voice. Voice is fairly easy to do.

What we figured out, and what our solution delivers, is the ability to do enhanced lines, such as modem data that you would find with a Hayes-type modem or U.S. Robotics. We’re able to do alarm protocols, so think Ademco Contact ID, 4+2, SIA. We’re able to do those communications inbound and outbound.

We also have our own proprietary fax protocol. We’re able to do this all through this device with the additional advantage of having not only local Internet through the WAN, but also being backed up by LTE.

In the DataRemote Lab, it is our job to develop and implement test solutions for software and hardware to ensure the optimum quality and functionality of our products.

We undergo a variety of test cases and use cases where we perform a rigorous amount of validation on the device’s software in different scenarios, such as longevity, battery consumption, and stress testing.

The test engineers here in our lab have developed automated test scripts to constantly monitor devices to ensure reliability and efficiency for elongated periods of time.

As you can see, our lab wall is also equipped with a variety of customer-premises equipment, such as fire alarm panels, burglar alarm panels, telephone entry systems, and a variety of fax machines.

As part of our future plans, we are always looking to expand in any technology that we do not currently support. To further advance our goal of plug-and-play, we seek out customer-premises equipment to integrate into our current solution.
