See, there’s a market event that’s coming that’s affecting many companies, including this national chain of fitness clubs. The PSTN—the Public Switched Telephone Network—is going to be sunset, which means many services that work on legacy equipment, like POTS lines—plain old telephones—are no longer going to work.

Besides that, PSTN means phones like these are no longer going to work.

For this particular installation, they used the local Internet, which could be broadband, DSL, MPLS, SD-WAN, or VPN. You would run from the LAN to the WAN of the CDS-9070.

The 9070 also has an LTE SIM card in it by AT&T that’s used for backup. If this network goes down, this still operates on the LTE network.

Then, from our box to the DRI-9080—the eight-line adapter—you’re able to run 10 PSTN lines: things like fire alarm, security alarm, elevator, escalator, ATMs, point of sale, and much, much more.
