Bridging the Digital Divide: Internet for Students — Video

0:54 min

Connectivity is a prerequisite for learning — how DataRemote cellular appliances bring reliable internet to students and campuses without wired service.

Video transcript

Hi, my name is Daniel Daley, and I attend school at Ransom Everglades.

The coronavirus has facilitated a transition to online communications, making electronic appliances more of a necessity.

There are 350,000 students in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Seventy percent live below the poverty level. It is certain that many of these students do not have access to Internet at home, and being provided a school tablet or laptop does not solve this issue.

Over the years, I have interned with a company called DataRemote, which manufactures an LTE hotspot called the CDS-9070 that provides home Wi-Fi. DataRemote has offered to work with the students to create a cost-efficient and long-term solution.

Access to Internet means access to education. These units will bring Wi-Fi to students in need, and I’m asking for your help to share this idea with Miami-Dade County Schools.
