# Fixed wireless access

## How it works

A stationary router with a cellular radio and often an external antenna connects to a nearby cell site and serves the premises like a wired circuit would, providing routing, NAT, and local networking behind it.

## Why it matters

FWA can be provisioned in days rather than the weeks or months a wired install takes, which makes it viable both as a primary connection where wireline options are poor and as a bridge while a wired circuit is being delivered.
